It introduces 40 of the hottest names in jrock history with backgrounds, musical pedigrees, critiques, and up-to-date discographies, all in a stunning full-color package featuring original art by Moscow-based illustrator Yana Moskaluk. Many of these bands have toured and released CDs in North America and are known for their work on anime and movie soundtracks.

Josephine Yun grew up watching Japanese historical dramas and listening to rock music. She received a writing degree from Johns Hopkins University and has covered theater, classical music, and Japanese pop for Baltimore City Paper since 2002. In 2004, she was commissioned by Tofu Records to write the official English biography of X JAPAN. jrock, ink. is her first book.
Artist Yana Moskaluk's computer desktop has an image of Malice Mizer's Mana on it. She is a big fan of jrock culture and dresses accordingly. She can be often found "headphoning" to jrock while working as the leading illustrator at the Art. Lebedev Studio, the largest design company in Russia. Founded and led by the infamous designer Artemy Lebedev, the studio specializes in graphic, industrial, and web design, as well as interface engineering. Designer Yelena Zhavoronkova is a graphic artist . . . and a friend of Josephine Yun.
